Nikon Spirit Initiative Lends Helping Hand to Ronald McDonald House of Long Island
MELVILLE, N.Y. —
During the difficult time when a child is hospitalized, the love and support of family is essential. As part of its ongoing effort to support charities within the greater Long Island community, Nikon recently made a generous donation to assist the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island in their efforts to establish an updated media center where visiting families and children can access computers and media equipment during their time away from home. With contributions and donations from area companies and organizations, the new media center should be operational and available for use in the coming weeks.
"As a Long Island based company, Nikon is proud to support the amazing efforts of the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island," said Anna Marie Bakker, General Manager of Communications for Nikon. "We certainly stand by the Ronald McDonald House and hope that the updated media center facility will help the residents and visitors as they endure each day of a very difficult time."
The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island is a home-away-from home for seriously ill children undergoing medical treatment in area hospitals. Located on the campus of Schneider Children's Hospital at 267-07 76th Avenue in New Hyde Park, "the house that love built" accommodates families in a warm and supportive environment. Since opening in 1986, the House has served more than 8,500 families from the United States and more than 62 countries around the world. Most of the families who stay at the House are from Nassau and Suffolk Counties, as well as from the five boroughs of New York City.
