Melville, NY —

Today, Nikon Inc. announced the retirement of Senior Vice President, David Lee, who over the past 41 years has dedicated himself to helping Nikon Inc. navigate the ever-changing landscape of the imaging and recreation optics industries. In his storied career with Nikon Inc., David has helped fuel the success of many of the imaging company’s divisions, most recently as the Senior Vice President of Operations and SRO.

Photography has always been a part of David’s life, dating back to his great grandfather who had his own photo studio, and his grandfather and father who operated photo retailers. Now looking back over 40 years, David reflects on his journey at Nikon Inc., stating “I am extremely proud and grateful. Proud to be a part of an organization that continues to push innovation forward and transform the possibilities of imaging technologies. I’m grateful for the opportunity that the company has given me to grow as a person, grateful to my fellow employees and to my mentors who have taught me so much over the years.”

David started his career in sales for Nikon’s original US distributor in Salt Lake City in 1979, and has taken his years of experience travelling, learning from colleagues and working with retailers across the country to help drive the company’s vision. From Utah to Colorado, Texas and finally Melville, David has held various leadership roles within Nikon Inc. through the years, including the Vice President of Sales for the Imaging Division and Senior Vice President of Nikon Inc. This role proved to be an exciting time, where he oversaw the business’ focus transition from film to digital, a pivotal moment in Nikon’s trajectory as an imaging company. Most recently, David applied his vast skillset and knowledge of the organization to take on the role of Senior Vice President of Operations as well as the SRO Division, where his expertise and business acumen has helped him to significantly grow the business and mentor his fellow colleagues.

“We are grateful for David’s countless contributions to the company over the years. His infectious enthusiasm, resourcefulness and passion for all things imaging will no doubt leave a lasting impression,” said Bo Kajiwara, President and CEO, Nikon Inc., “David embodies the very foundation that Nikon was built upon, as an innovative thinker, dedicated teammate and inspirational leader, and on behalf of the entire family at Nikon Inc., we wish him all the best.”
