Motion
The Z 8 will take photos or start recording video when it detects motion. Specify the direction, speed or size of the subject to zero in on exactly the right shot.
Subject Detection
The Z 8 will take photos or start recording video when it detects your chosen subject—a person, animal, vehicle or airplane—within the frame.
Distance
The Z 8’s shutter will release when your subject arrives at a designated distance from the camera.
Enhanced
Pre-Release Capture.
Simply hold the shutter-release button halfway to activate, and the Z 8 will start saving images up to one second before and up to four seconds after the shutter button is fully pressed. You can now keep Pre-Release Capture active for up to 300 seconds.
Improved focus point visibility.
Fine-tune the border width of your focus point in three levels, to suit the shooting situation.
The Z 8 has weaker heat dissipation performance compared to the Z 9, so shooting is more likely to stop due to heat when using the auto capture function. When the outside temperature is high or when shooting for long periods of time, use of the Z 9 is recommended.

Pixel Shift: Discover

In Pixel Shift mode, the position of the Z 8’s imaging sensor is adjusted in precise,
pixel-level increments across up to 32 NEF (RAW) exposures. Use NX Studio to
turn Pixel Shift sequences into files up to 180MP in size. Combine 4 to 32 Pixel Shift
exposures to create photos with greatly reduced noise and moiré
patterning—ideal for macro photography, still life, and archival reproduction.
Video

ISO 200 equivalent in N-Log video.
A new Lo 2.0 setting (ISO 200 equivalent) in N-Log captures more tonal
information in shadows, without significantly increased noise. Beautiful details can
be revealed in post—even with dark subjects against a bright background.
Smooth slow motion video, in-camera.
Record beautiful 4x and 5x 1080p slow motion footage straight to your memory card—no post-processing required.
Enhanced Hi-Res Zoom.

± Wi-Fi Compatibility
This camera’s built-in Wi-Fi® capability can only be used with a compatible iPhone®, iPad® or smart devices running on the Android™ operating system. The Nikon SnapBridge application must be installed on the device before it can be used with this camera.
Using the SnapBridge App
System Requirements:
Android version 5.0 or later
iOS version 11 or later
A device with Bluetooth 4.0 or later (i.e., a device that supports Bluetooth Smart Ready/Low Energy) is required.
Updating to Version 2:
Images downloaded to the smart device with version 1.x will no longer be displayed in the Gallery after you upgrade to version 2, but can be viewed in the “Photos” app provided with the smart device.
Make sure your camera’s firmware is updated to the current version.
