Capture NX 2 is a full-featured non-destructive photo editing program that provides photographers powerful tools to quickly and easily edit their photographs.
Choose from the Full Version (Product Number 25385) or the reduced-price Upgrade Version (Product Number 25386) which requires a valid serial number from version 1.x of Capture NX.
Color Control Points: Enhancements for hue, brightness and saturation are as simple as placing a Color Control Point on your image, then adjusting the length of the sliders. For example, Color Control Points are remarkably convenient for changing the color of flowers for better effect against green surrounding foliage. Take a dull gray sky and add blue to change the mood of a captured scene.
Auto-Retouch Brush: Capture NX 2 adds an automatic retouch tool to its image editing toolbox allowing users to seamlessly remove blemishes, dust and other distracting elements from photographs while maintaining the integrity of the image.

Selection Control Points: Now you can selectively edit photographs without the need to manually outline or mask the area for editing. Simply place a Selection Control Point anywhere on the photograph then choose from almost any adjustment such as D-Lighting, Unsharp Mask or Noise Reduction, while limiting the “reach” of that adjustment to just the selected area.
Shadow/Highlight Adjustment: With just a simple slider adjustment you can easily open up shadows or recover blown-out highlights. Highlight recovery is most effective for RAW (NEF) files however it will work with JPEG and TIFF files as well.

Laurie Excell of Layers Magazine recently reviewed Nikon’s Capture NX 2 and gave the software a five-star rating. Excell explained that the user interface was cleaner and easier to navigate due to a new browser with a favorites folder, an improved edit list and toolbar function. She also praised the amazing U Point® technology. Overall, Excell was impressed with Capture NX 2’s image-editing capabilities and its ease of use.
Popular Photography & Imaging’s Debbie Grossman praised Capture NX 2’s new approach to photo editing, specifically applauding the successes of Capture NX 2’s U Point® technology. Grossman utilized Capture NX 2’s new selective control points to sharpen, reduce noise, add blur and even repair images with the new Auto Retouch Brush. Grossman concluded that Capture NX 2 was a major boon for Nikon shooters and worked well for any photographer looking to enhance their images.
PDN Online’s Theano Nikitas took Capture NX 2 for a test drive, saying that the new version is worth “more than a few words.” Nikitas specifically pointed out the advantages of the new selection control points and their versatility when editing intricate parts of an image. Nikitas also lauded the software for its improved user interface and marked improved in overall speed with which users can edit their images. She concludes her review praising Capture NX 2 for “democratizing” photo editing for all users, professionals and amateurs alike.
