Julia Kelleher
Julia Kelleher is celebrated for her emotional portraits of pregnant women and her images depicting the bonds children have with their parents. Specializing in fine-art portraiture of newborns, maternity, children and family, she runs her own studio and educates other professional photographers in the creation of unique imagery and the building of profitable studio businesses.
Julia's work has appeared in numerous publications and at websites, including Professional Photographer, Digital Photographer and ISO 1200, as well as on the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition TV show, and it's been featured by Marathon Press and ABC News. She has twice been named Diamond Photographer of the Year by the Professional Photographers of America (PPA).
She is a CreativeLive and Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) instructor and teaches on the international stage multiple times per year as well as holding private creative workshops, online courses and personal mentoring sessions.
A storyteller at heart, Julia earned a Masters degree at the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and spent over a decade covering general assignment stories. She feels it is her journalism experience that has given her the techniques to create emotional imagery.
The best portrait of a mother’s journey captures a subtle connection and a transformation between her life before motherhood and the moment after giving birth. There is no harder nor rewarding job and showing the remarkable strength every mother has deep within her is my passion.
