VR Image Stabilization technology detects vertical and horizontal movement and offsets it by initiating compensating motion.

Shooting in low light often means slower shutter speeds and, as a result, image blur; VR image stabilization neutralizes camera shake, resulting in sharper shots without a tripod or the use of flash. VR also means sharper shots when using the telephoto focal lengths of your zoom lens and when shooting extreme close-ups.
